Watchcat Sammy took shoe guard duty with the utmost seriousness in December 2006...
...and so did Watchcat Rosie:
Darkness fell around Watchcat Lily's assigned sector. That didn't stop her, however, from monitoring a suspicious visitor on March 22, 2023:
As her expression indicated, Watchcat Collette was ready for her Purina One Thanksgiving feast this afternoon:
When her feast didn't appear right away, she let out a mighty roar:
She then received her feast, and all was tranquil again.
Watchcat Collette is insistent that way, but I'm thankful for her--and always will be.
Don't think that a watchcat won't use his kick toy as a weapon when necessary. In November 2011, this warning was apparent in Watchcat Nemo's eyes:
By sitting on a comforter that made him look like he had a massive paw, Watchcat Sammy warded off trespassers in November 2008:
Watchcat Rosie didn't let security procedures slide just because it was Christmas Eve:
She invited anyone who thought she'd be lax about enforcing security measures to step into her web--actually, her assigned sector--on December 24, 2006.
Watchcat Sylvia gave the impression she could see into a person's soul in April 2011:
That's one of many reasons she was an effective watchcat and why I miss her, five years after her passing.
Watchcat Collette received an important call from the Watchcat Headquarters hotline in July 2024:
She then looked heavenward for guidance. Fortunately, Watchcat Headquarters thought her decision was sound. In October 2019, Watchcat Lily was nestled snugly in her comforter. She knew that soon, however, she would have to get up and confront a visitor to her assigned sector:
That's just part and parcel of being a watchcat.
Watchcat Nemo trusted that visitors to his assigned sector would behave themselves. In case they didn't, however, he was ready to thwack them with the Tiger Tail Of Justice:
Fortunately, no visitors stepped out of line in December 2009.
Watchcat Rosie could have nodded off in November 2009, but she had an assigned sector to guard:
In keeping with a calico's tough nature, she stayed awake and alert for the duration of her shift.
Nothing says a guard post can't be cozy:
Watchcat Sylvia's comfort with her guard station made her smile in December 2015.
Although she might have looked a tad foreboding, Watchcat Collette kept an open mind when visitors entered her assigned sector on October 5, 2021:
Watchcat Nemo and Proxy Nemo relished their work in December 2015:
Keeping their assigned sector safe was rewarding to them, and they both took pride in their work.
Watchcat Lily meant no disrespect toward Blue Cat when she said, "Hold that thought. I need to confront a prowler:"
That's just how dedicated she was to her job on October 24, 2024.
Sometimes, it's appropriate for a watchcat to strike a pose that says, "You may approach the bench:"
Watchcat Sylvia maintained this pose toward visitors in April 2014.
It's unwise to cross a calico who gives you this look:
Watchcat Rosie knew the right stare to use on visitors to her assigned sector in November 2012.
For some offenses, a watchcat will look a trespasser right in the eye:
Naturally, this will require the watchcat's guardian to hold him up to eye level. Watchcat Nemo used this technique effectively in November 2009.
A visitor's excuse for being in Watchcat Sylvia's assigned sector didn't sound too convincing to Sylvia on August 5, 2015:
Watchcat Lily and Blue Cat stopped talking on October 24, 2024 until their visitor was out of earshot:
Security strategy sessions aren't meant for public consumption, after all.
Sometimes, a watchcat has to shoot a visitor a look that says, "Don't think I don't see you over there:"
Watchcat Rosie used this look to enforce compliance in July 2011.
Thanks to Watchcat Sammy's sharp-eyed vigilance in October 2004, everyone felt safe in his assigned sector:
While it's tempting to ask witch cats to use their sorcery so today's election turns out as I wish, that would be wrong. Thus, the witch cats and Watchcat Collette are sticking to guarding their assigned sector today...
...as far as I know.
Watchcat Nemo resisted pouncing on the cat toy until he knew what it was:
Watchcat Headquarters commended Nemo for his sound thinking in October 2015.
Some situations require a watchcat's wide-eyed scrutiny:
That was Watchcat Sylvia's stance in October 2013.
When Watchcat Lily guards someone, that person stays guarded. That was her conviction on October 24, 2024:
Today marks eight years since I started this blog, and although I didn't plan on it becoming exclusively a showcase for family cat photos originally, its evolution into that doesn't surprise me. In keeping with my generally introverted personality, it also doesn't surprise me that I've taken enough cat photos for there to be 2,084 Watchcat protocol posts so far.
Per their wishes, I expect the cats to continue being the stars of this blog for the foreseeable future.
Be prepared to explain yourself when watchcats discover you in their assigned sector:
