I remember two performers at a grade school assembly telling this well-worn joke:
Performer #1: Pete and Repeat were sitting on a fence. Pete fell off. Who was left?
Performer #2: Repeat.
Performer #1: Pete and Repeat were sitting on a fence...
Even at the young age I was then, I wanted to shout, "That setup is too contrived. No one actually has the name of Repeat!"
I kept that thought to myself, though. I didn't want to be a spoilsport. Don't get me started on Abbott and Costello's "Who's On First," however.
